Interview with Tamika Campbell / Continues

If you could work with any comic past or present, who would it be?
In order Dave Chappelle, Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, Cedric the Entertainer and Summore. But in all honesty if I wrote everyone’s name that I wanted to work with we’d be here all day.

Why do you want to work with these artists?
Well with Dave it’s the fact that I feel we have similar ideas and sense of humor.
I also think together we could make the world piss in their pants from laughing
Not saying I think he or I need help in that department but well he’s a man and I’m a woman so I really feel together we could cover ALL bases of comedy. As for the rest of the artists I would be honored to work with anyone I feel is a great performer

What advice could you give other people wanting to make it in the comedy industry?
1st of all come with self esteem! It’s important in anything in life but in the comedy industry especially. You need to know who you are and where you want to go. As a comedian I think it’s important to look spectacular on stage. Most comics get on stage looking like they are about to go shopping at the corner store and I feel this is insulting to the people who PAY to see you. Always know your material and be able to be versatile if you need to, but more importantly be creative and come up with new stuff.

Anything else you’d like to add?Life is like a book and it’s up to every individual to read and WRITE as many pages as possible.

What do you have lined up for shows?
Well I plan to do a piece in the “Stand up and be counted” show for the comic relief.
I also plan on doing the 3peaks in June it’s for the “acts4africa” charity 11 other comic and I will climb 3 peaks in a 24hr period to raise money for Africa.
Other wise I perform weekly somewhere.

I’m in Leicester on the 11 of April at the Looking Glass. Looking forward to performing in my home town again?
